Design By Nature – Handing on our Heritage.

We built this web with ‘WordPress’ (web content management system.) a platform on which to show off our products and business. It replaces our 25 year old web.

The design team (Vitamin.ie) contracted to build the structure of this web, told us, we were not to overload the web with data, “nobody will read it” they said. “You need to sell not tell”.

We didn’t listen, here’s why

Our Species Data pages, on how to grow each species was so much in demand in our previous web that we couldn’t leave it out. In 1999, It was Ireland’s first ever digital online record of flora, superseded thankfully by two webs on identification of flora, ( Jenny Seawright’s www.irishwildflowers.ie and Zoe Devlin’s www.wildflowersofireland.net ) Both websites are ideal for photos, great descriptions and as an aid to learn about the botany and occurrence of species.

Our species data is about where we can grow wild plants based on their natural requirements, growing conditions, management & maintenance, original info you wont find else where unless they copied our website.

So we have extended and renewed the entire section because our wildflower customers tell us they read a lot about gardening in winter.  They told us they loved the detail informative content we posted.  Over time, some said our old web was too complex, but they were happy it was informative!

We invariably said, whilst not all meadows are complex, a good many are and we believe that the owners understanding of complexity is the reason those meadows succeeded. Strangely all of Ireland’s wildflower growers are masters of understanding complexity! sure isn’t that what they come to understand when admiring wildflowers in their meadows.

This web site is entirely funded by our Micro Artisan Craft Business, building and maintaining this web sites is both costly and time consuming and we would rather be out growing our plants.
