Conservation Committed
This web highlights Design By Nature’s commitment to conserving Irish native plant species and biodiversity.
We Hand on our Heritage
We are traders and committed conservation activists, our Cv and portfolio is full of case studies of direct action to save species, utilise flora and thus conserve it.
In 1987, we launched our intent to grow native flora, giving three years to our Irish Government to raise objections, see Cornflower Response an archived doc.
Since 1990, we practically Ireland’s first ever social enterprises, we reinvest all profits into conservation efforts and business development, operating independently of charitable status. Charities who also sell wildflowers get well over €750,000 a year on this Island.
We are honest and accountable. unlike some environmental charities, who far as we can see such charities selling wildflower seeds or claiming genetic conservation offer very little value, as they charge you twice, once when you pay, and twice when they get your tax as a charities grant from governments. They like us should be cheaper than UK imports, strangely they are all not, which suggests they either screw you on price or they are importing and adding a margin on top.
Through this website and public talks, we educate both the Irish and international public on native flora, embodying genuine sustainability and biodiversity protection. The USA Gov have delivered nearly everything we could ask for since we first visited and alerted their agricultural inspectors of the dangers of importing wild-flora and the need to start growing their own
