Suits any sunny site,from acidic to slightly limy soils. Ideal where the soil remains damp but never wet, such as a typical Irish ‘Brown Earth’ soil.
Tough – Easy – Resilient, give two cut for low grow meadows. one cut for mid high
Ideally for large sites, >200 sqM or informal gardens and to replace lawns with wildflower meadows, its not for small gardens
Experience required, None, just one cut, insure Yellow Rattle or other grass reducing species have grown. Rake up cuttings, and remove off the meadow.
Can be over-sown in Autumn, with Yellow Rattle, Eyebright, Red Rattle or Red Bartsia or other grass reducing species
This mixture contains colourful native species mainly yellow, white and pinks, followed in autumn by deeper purple and if on the correct soil, You should see the blue devils bit Scabious flower in the second or third year after sowing. Unlike many other mixtures this mix will tend to large clumps of single species and whilst not colourful from a distance, it will be an experience close up.
